Finding Bangkok bookstores a little lacking? Reserve an hour to browse Orchid Books, the new specialist bookshop located on the fourth floor of Silom Complex, adjacent to Sala Daeng Skytrain Station. This retail outlet of Orchid Press (one of Thailand's longest running independent publishers) is the brainchild of Press Director Chris Frape. A true bookworm, Chris noticed Bangkok bookstores lacked breadth and depth in - of all things - Asian-interest departments, as well as knowledgeable, interested staff. Orchid Press fills the void with 1,700 new non-fiction titles, as well as an eclectic selection of out-of-print and antiquarian books on Asia. Can't find something? Ask a member of staff and be amazed that they can and will help you search, source, and order any book.
